However, due to this, lots of energy company’s are now getting unprecedented customer traffic which is preventing people getting through.

If you have this issue:

✅ DO take photos of your meter readings and email a copy to your energy provider so you have evidence of submitting it.

❌ DON’T fully rely on your smart meter alone.

✅ DO take a photo even if you have a smart meter. This is important if you get into a dispute with your energy provider.

✅ DO check on your next bill that your meter reading is correct.

Defamation of Character

❗️Be on guard against statements which could be defamatory.

❗️Gossip can be or lead to:
- defamation of character;
- harassment;
- bullying;
- discrimination charges.

❗️Defamation of character is illegal.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗮𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿?
It is a false statement which injures the reputation of another person.

➡️ Defamation can be through words or through conduct.
E.g. defamation by conduct - if an employer has staff removed from the work building without taking the correct due care so that it creates a false impression to others that the staff member committed a crime.

➡️ Defamation of character constitutes as libel if it is written or slander if stated orally.

🆘 Defamation can cause severe damage and ill health to the victim.

❗️Culprits could get dismissed from work.

❗️Victims can sue for such a statement.

❗️Employers can also be held accountable for employees’ discriminatory actions. This is known as ‘vicarious liability.’

❗️Defamation can cause great damage to the victim, the culprits and to the business.
