4 Great Highways - a web page has now been created on DCC’s website.
Did anyone see it announced ?
When were they going to tell us ?

The FAQ page is interesting and tries to put some distance between this project and the previous Llangollen 2020 Group involvement.

Is this project part of the Llangollen 2020 developments?

No, the Llangollen 2020 group is no longer in existence. This is a new project being delivered by Denbighshire County Council. There are still some highways projects being delivered under the Llangollen 2020 banner, these are separate projects being delivered by the Denbighshire’s Highways and Transportation services.

Alternative Fuel Payments are now being made.

If you don’t use gas or electricity to heat your home

If you use alternative fuels such as biomass or heating oil, the government will give you a £200 payment to help with your energy bills. This is called the ‘Alternative Fuel Payment’.

Your electricity supplier will make the payment automatically in February 2023. If you don’t have a contract with an electricity supplier, you’ll be able to apply for the payment on GOV.UK from February.

DCC / 2020 / 4 Great Highways - again

This correspondence between the Clerk of Llangollen Town Council and Town Councillor Scott Felton summarises the extent to which the Town Council was formally involved in the 2020 project and is now currently formally engaged with the 4 Great Highways.

Actually they were barely consulted and informed about 2020 for 3 years and aren’t engaged on the 4 Great Highways !

We seem to be going down the same road again with no formally appointed local community representation on this project and no link back to the LTC.

Our county Councillors are engaged but there is no formal link in place to the LTC for their input.

QUOTE

Dear Cllr Felton,

In order to assist you, and to clear the confusion over the involvement that the Town Council had with the 2020 group, I attach a timeline of interaction.

As you can see from this document the Town Council did initially, appoint the Chair and Vice Chair of the Cittaslow Committee on the 6 December 2017, to sit on what was then called the Llangollen Shared Space Task & Finish Group.

However as from 20 March 2018, when the group became known as the 2020 Working Group, the relationship with the Town Council was broken.

Therefore, the representatives on the group at that time, Councillors Lovelock and Baker sat on the group in an individual capacity and not as representatives of Llangollen Town Council.

You will see that it was not until 19 January 2021 that the Town Council resolved to appoint two new members to sit on the group namely Councillors Cheminais and Lovelock

I think you will agree that the attached table indicates that very little consultation was actually undertaken with the Town Council by the (2020) group between March 2018 and June 2021 when the Town Council received a presentation from Mr Mike Jones and Members were appraised of the final designs and the process of implementation for the highway improvements.

At the final meeting of the previous term of the Town Council, on the 19 April 2022, Cllr Lovelock confirmed that the work of the group had come to an end, and this has subsequently been confirmed in local media. Therefore, the Town Council has no relationship whatsoever with any group at the moment.

Turning to the issue of the Four Great Highways, a similar situation occurred in relation to this project.

In fact, there was no consultation whatsoever with the Town Council on this matter and I did address my concerns as to the lack of adherence to the Charter between Denbighshire’s Town & Community Councils and Denbighshire County Council at that time with the previous Chief Executive Officer.
