A common misconception I hear is: “I’ll sort that out later.”

But estate planning isn’t really about age.

It’s about being prepared and making things easier for your family in the future.

In fact, even my own children arranged their Lasting Powers of Attorney when they turned 18.

Not because they expected something to happen - but because life can change unexpectedly for any family.

The earlier you understand your options, the more control and clarity you have and often, starting the conversation is the hardest part. Once families do that, everything usually feels much more manageable.

One thing I always reassure clients about is this: You don’t need to come to me already knowing exactly what documents you need.

That’s my job.

I ask questions about your family, your situation, and what matters most to you - then I explain the options clearly so you can make informed decisions confidently.

Clients often tell me they feel relieved after our conversations because everything suddenly feels much easier to understand.

Estate planning should feel supportive, straightforward, and personal to your family - and that’s exactly how I approach it.

When families know exactly what you wanted, it can make incredibly difficult moments much easier to navigate.

That’s one of the reasons estate planning matters so much. It’s about clarity and confidence in your decision. Helping your family feel reassured in the future.

So many clients tell me they feel relieved once everything is properly organised - because they know important decisions have already been thought through carefully. And often, that peace of mind helps the whole family.

Estate planning doesn’t need to feel overwhelming, it simply starts with a conversation. Message me on Facebook today or give me a ring, let's see how I can help you.

One thing I’ve noticed over the years is that many families fully intend to sort their estate planning.

They just never quite get around to starting the conversation.

Usually, it’s not because they don’t care.

It’s because they assume it will feel uncomfortable or complicated.

But once we sit down and talk things through properly, clients often say: “That was much easier than I expected.”

Estate planning isn’t about having all the answers before you start.

It’s simply about understanding your options and making sure your family knows your wishes clearly.

And having those conversations sooner often brings far more peace of mind than families expect.

Your family naturally wants to help if something unexpected happens.

But one thing many families don’t realise is that without the right documents in place, even those closest to you may not automatically be able to make decisions on your behalf.

It’s a conversation I have often with clients - and it usually comes as a surprise.

That’s why Lasting Powers of Attorney are so important.

They allow you to choose who can step in and help if you ever needed support in the future.

It’s not about expecting the worst.

It’s about making things easier for your family if life ever changes unexpectedly.

And once it’s explained properly, most clients realise it’s much more straightforward than they imagined.

I know estate planning isn’t always at the top of everyone’s to-do list.

It’s one of those things families often mean to sort “one day.”

But the truth is, the best time to put plans in place is before they’re needed.

A Will, trusts, and Lasting Power of Attorney can all play a part in making sure your wishes are clear and your loved ones are supported.

What I love about my role is helping families go from feeling unsure or overwhelmed to feeling calm, informed, and reassured.

You don’t need to know all the legal details before speaking to me.

You just need to start with a conversation.

I’ll ask the right questions, explain your options clearly, and help you decide what feels right for your circumstances.

If this has been sitting on your list for a while, I’d be happy to help you take the first step.

Most people understand why having a Will is important.

But fewer think about what would happen if they were still alive, but unable to make decisions for themselves.

That’s where a Lasting Power of Attorney, or LPA, comes in.

An LPA allows someone you trust to make decisions on your behalf if you’re unable to - for example, due to illness, an accident, or loss of mental capacity.

Without one, even close family members may not automatically have the legal authority to step in.

I often explain LPAs using real-life examples, because it helps families understand just how important they can be.

For me, this is something I feel strongly about.

It’s not only for later life - it’s about being prepared at any stage.

If you’ve sorted your Will but haven’t looked at LPAs yet, it may be worth having a chat.

A lot of clients come to me thinking they only need “a simple Will.”

And sometimes, that may be exactly right.

But other times, once we talk through their family situation, property, children, wishes, or concerns, there may be other options worth considering too.

That could include trusts, Lasting Power of Attorney, or wider estate planning depending on what they want to achieve.

My job is never to overcomplicate things.

It’s to help you understand what is relevant to your situation - and what isn’t.

I always aim to explain things clearly, without jargon, so you can make informed decisions with confidence.

Estate planning should feel personal.

Your family, your wishes, and your circumstances are unique - so your plans should reflect that.

If you’re unsure what you actually need, don’t worry. That’s exactly what I’m here to help with.

Something I often ask clients is:

“Would your family know exactly what you wanted?”

Many families assume their loved ones would just know what to do - but when emotions are high, uncertainty can make things much harder.

That’s why having the right plans in place matters.

A clear Will, and other estate planning documents where needed, can help remove confusion and make sure your wishes are properly recorded.

It’s not about being negative. It’s about being thoughtful.

Over the years, I’ve seen how much peace of mind clients feel once everything is clearly set out.

Not just for themselves, but for their family too.

Estate planning doesn’t need to feel overwhelming.

Sometimes, it starts with a simple conversation about your family, your wishes, and what matters most to you.

If you’re not sure whether your current plans are enough, I’m always happy to explain things in plain English.

One of the most common things I hear is:

“I know I need to sort my Will… I just haven’t got round to it.”

And honestly, I understand why.

Life is busy.

It can feel like a big, serious job. Some worry it will be complicated, emotional, or expensive - so it keeps getting pushed down the list.

But in reality, sorting your Will is often much more straightforward than expected.

My role is to talk things through with you clearly, ask the right questions, and help you understand your options without pressure or jargon.

A Will isn’t just about who gets what. It’s about making sure your wishes are known, your family is protected, and things are made easier for those you care about.

If it’s been on your mind for a while, this could be your sign to finally start the conversation.
