Hi, I’m Olivia 🏇🏿
I am a Senior Associate at Birketts specialising in Commercial Contracts and Data Protection. “Commercial contract” has a broad meaning which essentially means any terms and conditions or agreement terms that govern the way two sides of a deal do business – from website terms and conditions to large procurement contract suites. Whilst this is all good fun, my real passion in life has always been horses.
Although my parents aren’t horsey, my aunt is and used to lead me around on my cousins’ ponies whenever we visited. That gave me the bug, so I started riding lessons once a week which continued throughout my early childhood when I had a short break from horses due to extreme nerves. At 15, I re-started riding lessons and the obsession kick-started right back up! I eventually bought my share horse when I qualified as a lawyer. She was my absolute heart horse and I still miss her every day. I now have a gelding who is an awesome all-rounder and total character. I’m still a nervous rider but absolutely love to give everything a go with my boy (living out my ‘pony club’ dreams) and particularly enjoy long hacks with friends, showjumping and stayaway camps.
Horses have taught me so much, including many valuable lessons before I ever stepped foot in a meeting room. From an early age, horses teach you discipline, time management, responsibility, awareness, empathy, adaptability, good sportsmanship and emotional strength. They truly are incredible animals.
