It was a privilege to warmly welcome Mr. Ashtar Ausaf Ali, a distinguished senior Pakistani lawyer and constitutional expert, who has served twice as the Attorney General for Pakistan and twice as the Advocate General of Punjab.
We had an engaging and insightful discussion on key aspects of Pakistan’s criminal justice system, including prosecution challenges, the collection and preservation of evidence—particularly forensic evidence—the principles governing bail, and other important procedural issues.
Mr. Ausaf’s vast experience, practical wisdom, and deep understanding of constitutional and criminal law made the discussion both enlightening and inspiring. His valuable insights on strengthening prosecution and enhancing the effective use of forensic evidence in the administration of justice were greatly appreciated.
It was an honour to host him and learn from his wealth of experience. I look forward to more such meaningful engagements that contribute to strengthening legal knowledge, the rule of law, and Pakistan’s criminal justice system.
