Around 11 million people in the UK are deaf or have hearing loss, making it the second most common disability, however it often goes unnoticed or undiagnosed because it is an invisible disability.
Whilst not every case of hearing loss is avoidable, unfortunately some instances caused by delay or misdiagnosis can be as a result of medical negligence and, if there had been earlier treatment or diagnosis, the impact could have been reduced or avoided altogether.
