We are happy to announce that JustCitizens have launched their Access to Healthcare Toolkit for New Scots.
This will empower people to be able to defend their rights, and confidently be able to point out their entitlements.

Our members aim to help people in our communities better understand their healthcare rights, how the system works & who can help. They also share some tips, hacks and advice based on their experiences with healthcare in Scotland.

This resource is available in English, Arabic, Sorani, Farsi, and Urdu.
Our members are hoping to translate this into more languages, if you would like to help with this please do get in touch with our JustCitizens team.

We are excited to announce that our group is now recruiting more members!
Join us today and help us tackle barriers for migrants in Scotland.

We focus on devolved areas that can improve the lives of thousands of migrants who have made Scotland their home. For the past year, we have been focusing on access to education for migrant students with our successful campaign in partnership with Maryhill Integration Network and JustRight Scotland, and access to healthcare with the production of our Access to Healthcare Toolkit for New Scots.

We are launching the survey “Lived experiences as migrants with Police Scotland” to examine the current relationship between migrants and Police Scotland and to examine when these issues are likely to arise and highlight them in our case studies.

Open to people, communities and organisations across the country, our Roots of Refuge event will focus on sharing stories of hope and celebration from migrants who have chosen to make their home.

We will celebrate the warm welcome for asylum seekers and refugees in our Scottish communities – highlighting grassroots organisations who make a difference in people’s lives every day, and the compassion and solidarity each and every one of us can show to people fleeing war and danger in seek of protection and refuge.
We feel it is especially important to do so now, in the wider context of an [Illegal] Migration Bill before the UK Parliament which aims to close down routes to safety in the UK for asylum seekers and refugees, and which divides people from the communities they live in.

Together with JustRight Scotland we are organising our Roots of Refuge event again this year to celebrate the work of refugee-led grassroot networks, groups and organisations in !

Our community event is organised for Scotland 2023 and it will take place on Thu 22nd June from 4pm!

We are taking over the The Hidden Gardens for the afternoon to promote the work of some amazing projects that support refugees and asylum seekers across .

We have some great news and some important updates!

We responded to the Scottish Government consultation on funding access requirements for further and higher education.
We responded to this as part of our campaigning work around this topic and our part in the campaign in partnership with JustRight Scotland and Maryhill Integration Network.

The Scottish Government has now published the consultation analysis and has announced two changes to the regulations that will come into force in August 2023:

🖲 Home fee status and student financial support will be extended to all people who have been granted leave to remain the UK by the Home Office (limited AND unlimited), and who are ordinarily resident in Scotland on the date of their course and have been living in the UK for the 3 years immediately preceding the start of their course.


📤Current unaccompanied asylum seeking children and children of asylum seekers will be now be eligible for home fee status and student support!

We hope this will pave the way to a more fair society which hopes to tackle institutionalised inequality and discrimination.
We will continue to advocate and work with our partners to support further changes which make Scotland the leader for inclusion and progressiveness!
