Not a job — just a showcase of resourcefulness. Needed a new fence at home and happened to have a stack of composite decking planks I picked up for free. A couple of bits of hardware from Wickes later, and we’ve now got a solid composite fence. Just needs a pressure wash and a few finishing touches, but I’m rather pleased with the resourcefulness and the money saved compared to buying composite panels.

Last few touches done, changed the ironmongery on the door to black, cleaned off the dust on the slabs and gravel. Pleased with the result.

Exciting news!
Katy and I have decided to take the plunge and start running DIY workshops to help empower other women.
Our first workshop will focus on DIY basics, perfect for complete beginners, even if you’ve never picked up a drill before!
We’re also planning a second workshop later in the year (hopefully June), aimed at home maintenance for those who know the basics but may still lack confidence.
We’ve tried to keep costs as low as possible – enough to cover venue hire, tools and materials, and of course tea, coffee and biscuits! ☕🍪
We currently have a provisional date of 23rd May, just pending final confirmation from the Council on venue hire (turns out finding a space to use power tools involves a lot more paperwork than expected!).
For updates, follow along here: https://www.facebook.com/ptphandyhub
And if anyone knows of a suitable venue we could approach for future dates, we’d love to hear from you!

Tuesday doing a shed re-felt. Half glass, half felt was a new one. Bit of felt overhang to act as the flashing over the glass section to mirror the old felt. Access was a bit limited so up on the roof it was. Forgot to get a completed photo so there's me on the roof. A few strange looks from the passerby's on the footpath, probably wondering what that women was doing on the shed roof 😄

A job that wasn't a job but a trade of favours, friend had already installed the panel. This is also why we don't offer room decoration as a regular service due to time commitments as this took 3 days. Day 1, filling, sanding, prime bare wood & caulk. Day 2 more sanding, 2 coats of paint on the lower and upper half and a coat on the ceiling, day 3 paint woodwork and touching up any other bits of paint in the hallway and on the landing.

Busy weekend: treated a large ceiling with old water stains. BIN stain blocker, two full coats, plus an extra blended coat over one stubborn patch of staining. Replaced a section of plasterboard, filled, sanded, and finished with BIN to prevent the filler flashing and a coat of anti-mould bathroom paint.
Also renewed the shower silicone and fitted a blanking plate over old thermostat wires. They tested dead, but as the other end couldn’t be traced and confirmed disconnected, the plate keeps covers the hole whilst keep them safely accessible.

We’re getting back into things after a bit of a break, and after a good chat between ourselves, we’ve decided to put more focus on the small‑repair side of the business. It means we can keep helping with those little jobs people don’t have the time, tools or skills for, while still balancing downtime alongside our day jobs.
We’re currently working on a new info graphic with the services we cover and our transparent pricing. We’ve also got a few exciting developments coming up, more on those soon.
For now, here are a few recent jobs: wire fencing using customer‑supplied materials (a first for us), fresh silicone and ceiling paint freshen up in a bathroom, and some woodwork painting on skirting and window sills. The customer provided paint, but we ended up using our own because we genuinely love LickPro wood paint, not sponsored, just a fan.
