Last week, members of the Capital team took part in the Business Fives Cardiff event in support of our charity of the year, PAPYRUS Prevention of Young Su***de .

It was great to join businesses from across hashtag for some friendly competition — all while raising money for an important cause. 🤝

After a strong showing in the group phase, Capital Law advanced to the Champions League quarter-finals, where the firm's run came to an end after an excellent afternoon of football to the eventual champions.

A huge thank you to the organisers at Business Fives for hosting another fantastic event, and to all the businesses who took part.

Events like these provide a great opportunity to build relationships, strengthen teamwork and support worthwhile charitable causes.

🤝 A fantastic evening speaking with students from the Lord Edmund-Davies Legal Education Trust (LEDLET) about routes into the legal industry.

We began with a presentation from Sarah Ward and Nina Holmes, sharing practical advice on the application process here at Capital, along with wider guidance on the different pathways into law.

They covered a range of topics from what recruiters look for, to their stance on AI, and the steps students can take now to shape their future careers.

This was followed by roundtable discussions with our solicitors, trainees, and HR team, giving students the opportunity to ask questions, build connections, and hear first-hand how our colleagues have navigated their personal journeys.

It was a privilege to also be joined by Harry Dickens, whose experience as a barrister at Iscoed Chambers offered students an alternative insight into advocacy and life at the bar.

We rounded off the evening with dinner and more informal conversations – a great way to end an inspiring and engaging event for everyone involved.

🤝 Today we have had the pleasure of welcoming two placement students from the Cardiff Lord Edmund-Davies Legal Education Trust (LEDLET) Summer Scheme, which is led in Cardiff by Elisabeth Velina Jones and Legal Wales Cymru'r Gyfraith.

So far, they have spent the day paired with trainee solicitors Imme Luscombe and Reiss Smith, gaining insight into life at Capital and hands on experience within our Employment and Commercial Disputes teams.

It was great to see them chatting over lunch with trainees in our Cegin space, where they had the chance to share experiences and make meaningful connections, in a more informal setting.

We’re looking forward to welcoming the rest of the LEDLET cohort later this evening where our lawyers and HR team will be leading presentations and roundtable discussions on routes into law!💡👏

Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming a Trade and Business Delegation from Malta to our Cardiff HQ 🤝

This high-level networking event, organised with TradeMalta, Honorary Consul of Malta in Wales Reuben Mifsud and Llywodraeth Cymru / Welsh Government, connected policy-makers, business leaders, chambers of commerce, trade organisations and other stakeholders from Malta with their Welsh counterparts over a lively lunch and panel discussions 💡

It was great to get a first hand account of the Maltese Business Landscape from Tania T. Brown (CEO of TradeMalta ) and His Excellency Professor Stephen Montefort (High Commissioner of Malta to the UK) and to listen to exchanges on international trade and fintech challenges, synergies and opportunities from Maltese and Welsh panellists, expertly moderated by Tania Brown and CEO of FinTech Wales, Sarah Jones.
