Employment Law Review, 7.30am Thursday 23 January at 42 Fountain Street, Belfast.
Mock Industrial Tribunal, 1-5pm Tuesday 25 February at Crumlin Road Gaol

The In-House Lawyers Group NI (IHLGNI) committee have organised a seminar to kick-start your CPD for 2020. Following the success of a similar event in 2018, Juris Resolutions will provide a practical overview of ADR (Alternative Dispute Resolution) for our in-house members with focus on mediation, arbitration and early neutral evaluation, and instruction on how best to use the range of ADR options.

The event will feature a panel of speakers, presentations and practical demonstrations.

WHEN: 3pm registration, 3.30pm start on Tuesday 21 January 2020

WHERE: Belfast City Council offices, No. 9 Adelaide Street, Belfast, BT2 8DJ. Please speak with reception.

This is a free event specifically aimed at in-house lawyers and will attract two CPD hours.

There are still some places available at our free CPD event next week, in association with A&L Goodbody Solicitors. The event starts at 3.30pm on Thursday 3rd October 2019 at The Merchant Hotel, Belfast.

"The In-House Lawyers Survival Guide" session will focus on key areas in-house lawyers may be required to advise on, including the laws and requirements around:-

· Board Engagement, Governance and Managing Key Relationships
· Big Deals and Key Contracts
· Delinquent Contracts
· Crisis Management
· Disciplinaries and Executive Terminations

We are also delighted to have Grainne Burns from Kainos at the event. Grainne will provide members with an insight into her role as Group General Counsel of a large tech organisation. The afternoon will then close with drinks and canapes and an opportunity to network with fellow in-house lawyers.

Please note that the Annual General Meeting of the In-House Lawyers’ Group Northern Ireland (IHLGNI) will take place on:
Thursday 29th September 2016 at 3pm

The IHLGNI constitution requires that the organisation maintains a Committee comprising seven members. The new Committee for 2016/2017 will be elected at the AGM. Should you wish to nominate a member for a position on the IHLGNI Committee, please send your nomination to [email protected] no later than 7 days before the AGM.

In the event that there are a greater number of nominations than the available Committee positions, then Committee positions shall be decided by a vote of the IHLGNI members. Every member present at the AGM will be entitled to vote in this process. No proxy votes will be allowed and Chair shall issue a declaration of the results once the voting has been concluded.

The AGM will be followed by a free CPD seminar on Data Protection and Cyber Security for In-house Laywers to be presented in association with A & L Goodbody solicitors. The guest speaker for the event is Joanne Ross, Head of Legal at Bord Gais Energy who will share some of her experiences as an In-House Counsel. Joanne has held a number of high profile In-House Lawyer roles during her career including Coca Cola and Lagan Technologies and will be a very interesting and informative speaker. Further details of this event are attached ( attendance at this event will attract 2.5 hrs of Client Care CPD).

NOTE: All persons who are enrolled as Solicitors or Barristers and who practice or are employed in an in-house legal adviser capacity in Northern Ireland, and who so wish, shall be considered to be members of the IHLGNI and will be eligible to nominate committee members, stand as committee members and attend and vote at the AGM.

The In-House Lawyers Group are holding a CPD event on 26th November, in City Hall .

The topic is “Key Employment Law Cases in 2015” and will be presented by Joanne White.

Tea/ Coffee and refreshments will be served in the Reception Room from 3.30pm with the Seminar starting at 4pm. Following the Seminar there is the option of joining us for a Private Tour of City Hall.

Attendance at the Seminar will gain you 1 hour of CPD, this is a free event and the content of the seminar will be relevant to all In-house lawyers and not just those who specialise only in Employment Law.
