I had the opportunity to be interviewed on CABLENOTICIAS about the human rights situation of women, girls, and adolescents in Afghanistan, 1000 days after the Taliban took control. This discussion was crucial to highlight the severe setbacks in human rights under the current regime.
Despite international condemnation, the situation for Afghan women and children remains dire. The imposition of restrictive policies has led to a systemic erosion of rights, including education and freedom of movement. Western responses have been largely rhetorical, lacking effective measures to address these violations.
This situation invites critical reflection on the role of the global community in protecting human rights. How can international frameworks be strengthened to hold oppressive regimes accountable? It is imperative that we move beyond words to concrete actions that support the resilience and rights of Afghan women and children.
