Exciting Announcement:

Bortnick Law Office’s New Association with Maher Legal Services to Expand the Provision of Legal Services

Bortnick Law Office is excited to share an important update regarding our firm’s growth and future direction. After thoughtful consideration, we have entered into an association of independent practitioners with Laura-Claire Maher of Maher Legal Services.

As a result of this new association, effective April 1st, 2025, Jessica D. Bortnick will exclusively provide virtual/online legal services and Laura-Claire Maher will be available to provide in-person legal services at our office location in the Village at Pigeon Lake. Laura-Claire Maher will be available for in person meetings in the Village on Wednesdays starting in April.

Legal services provided out of the Village at Pigeon Lake will expand to now include:
-Employment litigation; and
-Family law services
in addition to the Wills, Estates, Real Estate and Corporate/Commercial legal services currently being provided.

Join me and FCSS for a two-hour special event on November 2nd, 1:30pm-3:30pm at the Thorsby Recreation Centre. I will cover the major aspects of estate planning by focusing on the Wills and Succession Act and the new Estate Administration Act in a clear and straightforward manner. Two-thirds of the seminar will be dedicated to learning how to prepare a legally valid will and why it is imperative to have one.

As you enjoy some snacks and refreshments, you can feel free to share your own personal examples and questions as we will all be learning - together. You can expect to walk away from this event with a basic knowledge and a general understanding of the law as it relates to estate planning, as well as with some new connections to others in similar life situations.

Bortnick Law Office is Hiring!

Bortnick Law Office is seeking a part-time team player to add to the office. Physical presence in the office is a must. Part-time hours range from 10 – 25 hours per week. If you have experience working in an administrative capacity, have legal administrative experience or paralegal experience, we are looking for you. A higher rate of pay will be considered for those with Corporate Paralegal Experience or Conveyancing Experience. Bortnick Law Office is open from 10am – 4pm daily. Flexibility is allowed for an employee who prefers to work only the hours that their child/children are at school.
