The Government of Canada is taking a giant step towards giving Canadian youth a global edge in today's interconnected world economy.
Canada and Iceland have joined hands to create a brand new Youth Mobility Arrangement. What does that mean? Starting in 2024, you can now work and travel in each other's countries for up to 12 months through International Experience Canada (IEC) or its Icelandic counterpart. And guess what? You can even repeat this fantastic experience for another 12 months!
This arrangement signifies not just a partnership between two nations, but a bridge between dreams and reality. Through this exchange, Canadian and Icelandic youth will delve into new cultures, enrich their life skills, and broaden their career horizons.
Marie-France Lalonde, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship, says, "We are creating a path for them to connect, learn and grow together, fostering friendships and memories that will last a lifetime."
The Honourable Áslaug Arna Sigurbjörnsdóttir, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of Iceland, shares her excitement too, "Icelandic and Canadian youth will have the opportunity to work and travel in each other’s country, exploring new cultures while enhancing their life skills and improving career prospects."
Let's applaud the power of international collaboration, the potential of our youth, and the countless memories they're about to create!
