It's someone that understands what they are buying.
Someone that is knowledgeable about the different systems within their home.
Someone that understands how to troubleshoot some basic home issues.
Someone that understands there are issues within the house, but are ok with it and have a budget to address them.

Summers being going by quick! Seems like only a few days ago it was Canada Day. Now it's only a few weeks away from school starting.

Similarly, our goals and desires can slip away if we aren't intentional about making progress. I know I'm guilty of that.

If buying a home is something you desire, but aren't sure about the nuances of home ownership. That is ok! 😀

Is it better to rent or buy?

It's an interesting question.

What are your long term goals? Understanding your goals will help with this.

I've heard people say that owning a home is just not feasible.

Perhaps. Perhaps not.

Maybe owning your home looks different now than it did 30 years ago. Maybe the location you can afford isn't where you live now.
Maybe renting is the best option for you.

Every situation is different. But to say 'I'll never afford a home' is probably not the best mindset. Life has a way of changing and you don't really know what the next 2-3 years will bring.

We've had some interesting weather lately. 💨🌧

Recently it was very windy and during my morning shower I noticed that the bathroom fan wasn't working very well.

Now, the reason it wasn't working wasn't because of the fan itself. It was because it was windy.
Behind my house is a large open field. The wind was coming off that field and hitting my house. Now with that in mind, when a bathroom exhaust fan operates, it pushes up a damper, to exhaust the air.

If the wind outside is too powerful, it is difficult for the exhaust fan to push the damper open, so it doesn't. In this case, the fan isn't doing anything. So, I just used a different fan from another part of the house. Slightly opening a window would also work to ventilate the bathroom in this case.

Just a small nuance to keep in mind as a homeowner.

Confidence.

It makes the difference in how you look at something. If you talk to a mechanic that have no issue driving a vehicle with 300,000 km or more. This is because they understand the vehicle and the maintenance needed to have it run properly, and for the long term.

The same applies to homes. Once you understand what to look for in your home, what is concerning, what isn't not a big deal, you have the confidence to not only make decisions on a home, but to maintain the home as well.

I had a call the other day that someone's hydro was out. This person thought there was an issue with the electrical panel or circuit. In talking with her there was no power in the bathroom. Everything else was ok. I asked her to reset the GFCI.

That worked. :)

Sometimes the answer isn't as hard as you think.

On a side note, in this case, if resetting your GFCI did not solve the problem, you may want to contact an electrician for further investigation.

Don't be discouraged.

Are you taking action towards it?
Are you being consistent?
Have there been obstacles?

I don't know your goal. But if it means something to you, it's worth working for. Keep focusing on your goal and consistently working towards accomplishing it.
