MoniQues

MoniQues I love upcycling, follow as l paint, craft, plant, landscape etc. I also have items for rent. A place to find all the things! So follow along and don’t miss out!

It’s always so random, and somestimes the pieces are for sale here first, so make sure to follow along and engage with my posts to keep them in your algorithym. Welcome to my new business page MoniQue’s! (Pronounced Moni-Qs)
This is where I will share my latest creations. It will be a huge variety of things, things that my creative brain wants to do that particular day. Don’t expect structure, I’m

a bit of a free spirit when it comes to my creativity, I tend to bounce around and work on what my heart ❤️ desires! I have a large assortment of furniture that is waiting for me in storage and I work at the local Transfer Station (love this 2 days a week job) so you may also see the odd dumpster rescue as well. ❤️
I might paint or I might strip paint. I might repurpose and I may even build from scratch. I also work at the local Greenhouse and love flowers so it might be flowers and landscaping, it might just be a simple craft or I might even sew! Sometimes my dad and husband help me with a few projects. It’s going to be ALL OVER THE PLACE, I can promise you that! 😁
I have always loved home decor, antiques and anything rustic and old. I am also passionate about salvaging and reducing the amount of waste in our landfills, part of my job. Many people see some stuff as trash but I see it as an opportunity to reinvent it and give it a second chance at life. Many of my pieces will be for sale because I don’t need or have a spot for it. There will definitely be some unique, one of a kind pieces and there may also be repeat popular items. They will be for sale here first before I list on marketplace. I also hope I can inspire others to takle their own projects or just simply answer any questions you may have. I’ve always dreamed of having a work space with ALL the tools to do ALL the THINGS! I finally have that space of my dreams and sadly it only happened because my father in law passed in 2020 and we brought his workshop home. I hope I do him proud, that his tools will continue to be used. It won’t be in the same way he used them, he built the most beautiful pieces of solid wood furniture. His talents far exceed mine. He was to the 32nd of an inch kind of guy and I’m more of “1/4 inch-ish” kinda gal. 😄
I can now create and walk away and comeback when I have the time. So don’t miss out! Follow and share my page and maybe you’ll find entertainment and inspiration in my journey or maybe even purchase a refurbished piece that will work for your space and support a local artist.

I have harvested a few cucumbers, peppers and cilantro so far.
We waited too long to put the arch for the beans. That’ll have to happen next year. I will have a wild mess for my pole beans.

Ugh 😣 paid too much for this but I just couldn’t leave it behind! It looked like it was painted with nail polish. Turned back into a simple matte black vase. I’ll be putting some faux flowers in it.

I used to have real plants and dirt with a plastic liner in this wooden box. Then I decided I didn’t want it to rot out so I dumped the dirt and went with faux succulents I even used some of the ones I painted.
😊👌🏻
You’d never know!
Now it’s going to live on my covered patio where the sun and rain will not bother it.

I bought some faux succulents on line a while ago and while some looked really good and realistic some looked so bad! So fake. They looked so bad I didn’t use them. Well the other day I gathered them up and gave them a makeover. A big improvement I’d say.
Check out the before and afters.

Two new raised beds at home. We still have to add the hog panel arch for the climbing plants.
We put commercial grade landscaping fabric from our local greenhouse owlseyegreenhouses underneath and it goes past the edge to hopefully prevent quack grass and w**d wacking. I will be keeping a close eye on my soil to catch any quackgrass starting to pop up.
Shout out and thanks to my husband for helping make this happen.

There’s still a lot of work to happen around the beds to eliminate lawn cutting in the difficult areas.

I haven’t made a post in a very long time and it’s not because I haven’t been working on anything. I’ve just been too lazy to make a post. I’ve also started lots of little projects and haven’t finished them or taken the time to stage for a photo.

One project I’m back at is the little house reno. I finished the livingroom/kitchen last year. This spring my tenants moved out because they purchased their own property (👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🫶🏼🙌🏼 congrats to them!) so my plan is to finish the flooring in the remainder of the house, 2 bedrooms, hallway and laundry room, update paint and trim and make a small floor plan change in the primary.

I took out the closet in the primary bedroom and I’m turning the little nook into a master closet.
Here are some progression photos. I started in April and it was greenhouse season. So not getting much time in there.
Being that it’s summer I’m not sure how quickly I’ll be getting through this one. 😐
