๐จ๐ฆ MAJOR EXPRESS ENTRY UPDATE! ๐จ๐ฆ
๐ข New CRS point rules expected to take effect November 3, 2026!
Canada is introducing changes that could create new opportunities for eligible Express Entry candidates to improve their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) scores.
Hereโs what applicants need to know! ๐
๐ผ 1. Additional Points for High-Wage Canadian Work Experience
Eligible candidates may receive additional CRS points based on their wage level:
๐น 70 points โ Wages at least 2 times the median wage
๐น 40 points โ Wages at least 1.5 times the median wage
๐น 20 points โ Wages at least 1.3 times the median wage
Generally, at least 12 months of eligible Canadian work experience is required.
๐ 2. More Points for Qualifying High-Wage Job Offers
Eligible job offers may provide additional CRS points based on the offered wage:
๐น 100 points โ At least 2 times the median wage
๐น 70 points โ At least 1.5 times the median wage
๐น 50 points โ At least 1.3 times the median wage
โ ๏ธ Not every job offer qualifies. IRCCโs eligibility requirements must be met.
โ
3. LMIA Requirement Changes
Under the proposed changes described in this update, an LMIA may no longer be required for qualifying job-offer CRS points starting November 3, 2026. Certain applicants under the Federal Skilled Worker Program and Federal Skilled Trades Program may also benefit from a temporary public policy, subject to its conditions.
๐ 4. Can You Claim Both Types of Points?
No. If you qualify under both options, you would receive points under the option that provides the greater benefit, rather than combining the two.
๐ฏ 5. Do Extra CRS Points Guarantee Permanent Residence?
No. A higher CRS score may improve your ranking, but an Invitation to Apply (ITA) depends on the applicable draw, its cut-off score, and all relevant eligibility requirements.
๐ 6. What Should You Do Now?
โ๏ธ Review your Express Entry profile.
โ๏ธ Check whether your Canadian work experience meets the applicable criteria.
โ๏ธ Assess your job offer and wage level.
โ๏ธ Ensure all information in your profile is accurate and up to date.
