If you are planning to start a college diploma or certificate program in Canada this month, stop and read this immediately.
As of January 2026, the grace period for the "Reinstated List" is ending. The 178 programs that were temporarily saved last July are now officially being removed from PGWP eligibility.

If you apply for a study permit for one of these programs today, you will graduate with a diplomaโbut ๐๐๐๐ ability to get a work permit. No work permit means no Canadian experience, and for most, no path to PR.
The "Red Zone" Programs (No longer PGWP-eligible for new applicants):
โ General Business & Marketing: (Unless it's a Bachelor's/Master's degree).
โ Hospitality & Tourism Management: Most diploma-level programs are out.
โ Human Resources Management: Pure HR diplomas are no longer on the priority list.
โ Supply Chain & Logistics: Only specific agricultural or technical versions remain.
โ General IT Support: Unless it falls under specialized STEM/Cybersecurity codes.
The "Safe Zone" (Still Eligible):
โ
Healthcare: Nursing, ECE, Personal Support Workers (tied to specific paths).
โ
Skilled Trades: Carpentry, Plumbing, Welding, Electrical.
โ
STEM: Engineering, Data Science, Software Development.
โ
All University Degrees: Bachelorโs, Masterโs, and PhDs remain exempt from these field-of-study restrictions!
Don't bet your future on a program that won't let you stay. If your school hasn't talked to you about CIP Codes and 2026 Eligibility, you need a second opinion.
Comment "CHECK" below with the name of your program, and we will tell you if itโs on the 2026 "Dead-End" list!
