Workplace discrimination isn’t always easy to recognize. Under Ontario’s Human Rights Code, a claim typically involves three elements: a protected ground (like race, gender, disability, or age), differential treatment compared to others, and a negative impact on employment. These factors don’t need to happen in isolation. Multiple protected identities can overlap, and treatment that seems neutral on the surface can still cause harm that the law recognizes.
At Bird Bolt Law, we work with individuals navigating these situations to help them understand what the law covers and what their options look like.
