Local Homeowner Tip During Snow Melt đź’§

With the current snow melt happening across Nova Scotia, many sump pumps are running almost non-stop right now.That’s exactly when one common problem can cause serious basement flooding: a power outage.

If the power goes out, the sump pump stops immediately — and water can start filling the sump pit very quickly.
In the last few days we installed battery backup systems for sump pumps in two local rental homes after the owners realized their basements were completely dependent on grid power. The system includes a converter and deep-cycle battery that automatically takes over if the power fails.

🔋 What the backup system does:
• Automatically powers the sump pump during an outage
• Keeps water moving out of the basement
• Provides several hours of protection during storms or outages

This is especially important for:
• finished basements
• homes with high groundwater
• seasonal / unattended homes
• rental properties

A sump pump backup is one of those things homeowners often only think about after a flooded basement.
