Big Changes Coming to Express Entry – Check If You Still Qualify 🇨🇦
Canada is planning one of the biggest changes to Express Entry since it launched in 2015.
According to IRCC’s Forward Regulatory Plan (2026–2028), the government is proposing to:
✅ Retire the current Express Entry programs
• Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
• Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
• Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
✅ Replace them with ONE new, streamlined Express Entry program
The goal?
🔹 Simpler eligibility rules
🔹 A more flexible system
🔹 Better alignment with Canada’s labour market and business needs
⚠️ While these changes are still in the proposal stage, consultations are expected in Spring 2026. If implemented, they could reshape how skilled workers qualify for permanent residence in Canada.
