Buying or selling this winter? A few things to keep in mind.
For buyers: fewer listings usually means less competition, and sellers who list in winter tend to be more motivated. You'll also get a real read on how a home handles cold weather, drafts, ice damming, and how the driveway and walkways hold up to snow.
For sellers: curb appeal takes more effort this time of year. Keep walkways and steps clear for showings, make sure the home is warm and well lit, and highlight things that matter more in winter, like furnace age, insulation, and a heated garage if you have one.
Whichever side you're on, get your financing sorted early. Approvals can take longer around the holidays.
