πŸ“’ Federal Court: Officers Must Let You Respond Before Doubting Your Documents πŸ“„βš–οΈ

Three recent Federal Court rulings sent applications back because officers raised concerns without giving applicants a fair chance to answer.

βœ… Rattol (2026 FC 1217): the officer found inflated bank balances not credible without asking the applicants to respond
βœ… Kaur (2026 FC 1216): she wasn’t given enough facts about an alleged fraudulent property report, or a chance to reply
βœ… Singh (2026 FC 1221): wanting to work in Canada isn’t enough to show a person will overstay, and the officer ignored ties to India

If you get a refusal built on credibility or fraud concerns, check whether you were ever given a chance to respond. Keep your supporting documents organized.

πŸ‘ͺ FAMILY SPONSORSHIP: PARENTS, GRANDPARENTS & SUPER VISA (NEW SERIES)

Part 1

Q1: Can I sponsor my parents or grandparents right now?
A: Not at the moment. Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) is paused, and it will not accept new interest to sponsor forms or invite potential sponsors to apply until further notice.

Q2: Is there another way to bring my parents or grandparents to Canada?
A: Yes, the super visa. It lets parents and grandparents stay in Canada for up to 5 years at a time, with the option to apply for 2-year extensions while they're in Canada.

Q3: What does the super visa require?
A: Your parent or grandparent needs private health insurance valid for at least 1 year from their date of entry, an immigration medical exam, and a signed invitation letter from you. You, as the host, must meet the minimum necessary income.

πŸ“’ $1.2M to Bring Francophone Newcomers to Smaller Communities πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦πŸ₯–

Ottawa is funding new projects to attract French-speaking and bilingual newcomers outside Quebec.

βœ… Newfoundland and Labrador: overseas recruitment in education, healthcare and early childhood
βœ… Saskatchewan: labour-market matching, credential-recognition help and cultural workshops across sectors like agriculture, mining and tech
βœ… Northern Ontario: the β€œOsez le Nord” promotion campaign

The funding shows Francophone immigration is still a priority for regions with labour shortages.

πŸ“’ πŸ“‰ Canada's Economy Stalls in July

Canada's GDP was flat in July, with 0.0% growth from June. Construction and accommodation and food services grew. Manufacturing, retail and mining shrank.

βœ… Construction up 1.3%, accommodation and food services up 0.8%
βœ… Manufacturing down 0.9%, retail down 1.0%
βœ… TD expects Q3 annualized growth of about 2%

A flat month doesn't settle the outlook, but jobseekers should expect a cautious labour market in the near term.

πŸ›οΈ PROVINCIAL NOMINEE PROGRAMS (PNP) (NEW SERIES)

Part 1

Q1: What is the Provincial Nominee Program?
A: The PNP lets provinces and territories nominate people with the skills, education and work experience their local economy needs, who want to become permanent residents. Each province and territory sets its own requirements and nomination numbers.

Q2: What's the difference between Express Entry-aligned and base streams?
A: If you qualify for a provincial stream and a federal Express Entry program, you may use an Express Entry-aligned stream, and a nomination adds 600 CRS points. If you don't qualify for Express Entry, you can apply through a province's base (non-Express Entry) stream.

Q3: Does a nomination mean I'm a permanent resident?
A: Not yet. You apply to the province first, and if nominated, you then apply to IRCC for permanent residence. IRCC makes the final decision.

πŸ“’ πŸ‘¨β€πŸ‘©β€πŸ‘§ IRCC Clarifies Rules for Minors Coming to Study in Canada

IRCC updated its study permit guidance for minor children. It now covers how custodian details are recorded, minors travelling with one parent, and what "custodianship" means.

βœ… Custodian details from IMM 5646 forms are now recorded in GCMS
βœ… There is clearer guidance for minors travelling with only one parent
βœ… The definition of "custodianship" has been refined

Families applying for minors should check that custodian paperwork and parental consent are complete before filing.

πŸ“’ 🚨 Start-Up Visa PR Loses Appeal Over Undeclared Representatives

The Federal Court upheld a misrepresentation finding against a Start-Up Visa applicant who denied using undeclared representatives. The officer relied on payment records, contact documents and file metadata pointing to third-party authorship.

βœ… Metadata and payment records can show who really prepared an application
βœ… The officer also noted similarities to other files from the same consultancy
βœ… Using an unreported representative can lead to a misrepresentation finding

Officers can trace an application back to whoever prepared it. Anyone getting paid help with an application needs to declare it on the forms.

πŸ“’ Inflation Holds at 3% β€” But Rent Is Now the One Pushing It Up πŸ“ˆ

August's inflation report shows a familiar headline number hiding a shift underneath: rent, not groceries or gas, is now driving the pressure.

βœ… CPI rose 3.0% year-over-year in August, matching July
βœ… Rent inflation accelerated to 2.8% (from 2.5% in July), led by Manitoba (+4.3%) and Ontario (+2.4%)
βœ… Grocery price growth slowed to 2.8% β€” the first time since July 2024 it's grown slower than headline CPI

Relief at the checkout counter is being offset by rising shelter costs, especially for renters in Ontario and Manitoba.
