NILS is an independent, non-political, non-profit-making association, the aims of which are to promote, establish and develop mutual understanding, personal contacts between law students and young lawyers from different states and legal systems, thereby equipping them for professional life in an international environment. To create awareness of law and justice;
ii. To facilitate the recogn
ition of the social responsibilities on law students;
iii. To understand and appreciate the diversity and share the ideals of law in society through exchange and communication among law students of all countries;
iv. To motivate law students to develop a creative spirit through a network of joint-activities among law students of different countries;
v. To encourage the enhancement of the capabilities of law students to become internationally minded, socially responsible, academically committed and
legally skilled. In order to achieve the Purpose NILS’ main fields of activity shall be:
i. Traineeship and International Exchange (TIE) Programme, providing opportunities to law students and young lawyers to gain work experience in a foreign legal system, and gaining knowledge of international law, while also learning about other cultures;
ii. Seminars & Conferences (S&C) involving the acquisition of knowledge through exposure to professionals and foreign cultures;
iii. Competitions, providing law students and young lawyers opportunity to develop their skills, imbibing knowledge and develop their competitive spirit. Competitions may include Moot Court, Client Counselling, Essay, Debate and any other Competition as decided by the International Board from time to time. Legal Aid Activities, providing opportunity to law students and young lawyers to reach out to the unprivileged section of the society and help them access justice, and promote human rights across the world;
v. Publications, for bringing out well researched, original papers, which shall deal with contemporary legal issues of international relevance, and to help law students and young lawyers to improve their legal research and writing skills.
