In another major milestone for Rural Generalist Medicine, Rural Generalists across Australia are now able to apply for specialist registration.

Following the Medical Board of Australia's approval of Rural Generalist qualifications, doctors holding FACRRM or FRACGP-RG can now apply to the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) for specialist Rural Generalist registration.

This is the culmination of years of advocacy by ACRRM, working alongside the RACGP, to see this pathway established — from specialty recognition, through accreditation, to a registration process you can use today.

Formal recognition means Rural Generalists are recognised for the full breadth of the comprehensive, advanced care they deliver in rural, remote and First Nations communities — strengthening recruitment, retention, and healthcare access across the country.

ACRRM President Dr Rod Martin says, “For Rural Generalists who have spent years — and in many cases decades — providing comprehensive medical care to rural, remote and First Nations communities, this is an important and hard-earned milestone.”

Following the release of the Issues Paper in May, the Tasmania Law Reform Institute is beginning Phase 2 of the consultation process for its review of the Tasmanian Coroners Act 1995. If you've interacted with the coronial system and have some thoughts or feedback, you are welcome to share them, either in:

- an anonymous survey
- an in-person consultation conducted by clinical psychologists from the University of Tasmania’s School of Psychological Sciences and are intended for people who wish to share experiences or information that may not be adequately captured through the TLRI’s other consultation methods.
- a voicemail recording in which people can share their views by calling 6226 2069 and leaving an anonymous voice-recorded message up to 10 minutes long.
