Raked ceiling, exposed timber beams, open fireplace, and a split-level layout. This room has serious character — the edit just made it visible.
The before was washed out and flat, the ceiling was blown to white, the timber beams disappeared into the overexposure, and the walls lost all definition. A room this size with this much architectural detail deserved better.
The after recovers everything. The raked ceiling is clean white with the timber beam reading warm and structural, the fireplace sits as the centerpiece it was designed to be, the timber joinery throughout the room has depth and richness, and the split-level dining area in the background is fully visible. The whole room finally reads as the generous, characterful space it is.
Homes with real history need edits that respect it.
