🚨 NEWS UPDATE 🚨

Ahmed Al Ahmed, who was widely recognised for his actions during the Bondi Beach terror attack, has been charged with common assault (domestic violence) and stalk/intimidate with intent to cause fear of physical harm.

The matter is alleged to have arisen from an incident at a residence in Bankstown, New South Wales, in March 2026. Mr Al Ahmed is scheduled to appear before Bankstown Local Court on 29 July 2026.

Mr Al Ahmed has publicly denied the allegations. The matter is now before the Court and remains subject to the legal process.

This case serves as an important reminder that criminal charges are allegations only until determined by a court of law.

🚨 NSW Medicinal Cannabis Driving Laws Proposed 🚨

The NSW Government has announced proposed reforms that could significantly change how medicinal cannabis users are treated under drug-driving laws.

Under the proposed changes, drivers prescribed medicinal cannabis containing THC may be able to avoid penalties if laboratory testing confirms their THC levels are below a prescribed threshold.

Key proposed changes include:

βœ”οΈ Registration with Transport for NSW for eligible medicinal cannabis users

βœ”οΈ Continued roadside drug testing and a 24-hour driving prohibition following a positive test while samples are analysed

βœ”οΈ No penalty where THC levels are below the prescribed threshold

βœ”οΈ Warnings for a first and second detection above the threshold within a two-year period

βœ”οΈ A $704 fine and minimum three-month licence suspension for a third detection within two years

The proposed reforms follow recommendations arising from the NSW Drug Summit and aim to balance road safety with the lawful use of prescribed medicinal cannabis.

It is important to note that these are currently proposed changes and have not yet been implemented.

If you are facing a drug-driving allegation or have questions about traffic offences, obtaining legal advice early can help you understand your options.

🚨 NEWS UPDATE | Queensland E-Mobility Laws 🚨

Queensland is set to introduce some of the country’s toughest e-mobility laws, with major reforms aimed at improving safety on roads and pathways.

From 1 July 2026, Queensland Police will have expanded powers, including the ability to conduct random breath testing of riders and seize certain illegal e-mobility devices. Increased penalties will also apply for offences such as speeding, failing to wear a helmet, carrying passengers unlawfully, and riding in prohibited areas.

Further reforms taking effect from 31 August 2026 will introduce licensing requirements for riders, subject to certain exemptions.

Key changes include:

βœ”οΈ Random breath testing for riders
βœ”οΈ Police powers to seize illegal devices
βœ”οΈ Increased penalties for unsafe riding behaviour
βœ”οΈ Licensing requirements for riders
βœ”οΈ Parental accountability for children under 16
βœ”οΈ Restrictions on high-powered e-bikes and e-scooters
βœ”οΈ Significant penalties for riding over the legal alcohol limit

If you ride an e-scooter or e-bike, it is important to understand how these changes may affect you.

MYTH vs FACT βš–οΈ

A common misconception is that pleading guilty means there is nothing more to say.

The reality is that sentencing is about far more than the offence itself. The Court may also consider your personal circumstances, character, employment, family responsibilities, remorse, and any positive rehabilitative steps you have taken since the offending.

Presenting relevant information to the Court is an important part of ensuring your circumstances are properly understood and can make a significant difference to the outcome of your matter.

If you have been charged with an offence, obtaining legal advice early can help you understand the process, prepare your case thoroughly, and put your best foot forward before the Court.

Will you get a conviction recorded?

The answer depends on a range of factors, including the nature of the offence, your personal circumstances, your criminal history, and the orders made by the Court.

Many people are surprised to learn that a finding of guilt does not automatically mean a conviction will be recorded.

If you are facing criminal charges, obtaining legal advice early can make a significant difference to the outcome of your matter.
