Today marks nine years since I was admitted to the Supreme Court as a Barrister and Solicitor and since I started practising law. ⚖️
Looking back, I’m honestly amazed at how much can happen in that amount of time.
I’ve had the opportunity to work across so many different organisations and areas of law — from private practice and not-for-profit organisations to large national firms, and across family law, property, conveyancing, wills and estates and litigation.
I’ve appeared in the Magistrates Court, Supreme Court, District Court and Family Court, helped people buy their first homes, helped families navigate deceased estates after losing someone they love, and sat with people in the final stages of their lives to make sure their affairs were in order.
I’ve helped families who are expecting their first baby put plans in place for their future, and helped parents through some incredibly difficult circumstances, including re-establishing relationships between parents and their young children.
When I think about my career, it’s probably those moments that mean the most. Being trusted by people during some of the biggest, most difficult and most exciting moments of their lives is something I’m incredibly grateful for.
Law can be stressful and challenging, and there have certainly been some tough days along the way. But there is also so much satisfaction in knowing that, in some small way, you’ve been able to help someone through an important part of their life.
I feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to experience so much, work with so many great people and build such a strong client base in what feels like such a short amount of time.
It’s made me realise just how much we can achieve when we look back at where we started.
I’m proud of the journey so far, grateful for everyone who has been part of it, and excited to see where the next chapter takes me. ❤️
Here’s to everything still to come. ⚖️🥂
