The 2019 Federal Budget contains the following announcements and information related to the Department of Home Affairs and the migration program.

Visa Application Charges to increase by 5.4% from 1 July 2019 for all subclasses, except the Visitor Subclass 600.
 No increase to second instalment VACs
 Expected to increase revenue by $275 million from 2018/19 to 2021/22

So you you are lodging a Partner Visa, that is an increase from $7,160 to $7,546.64 (+Plus the Credit Card Surcharge - budget for $100).

Migration Program Planning Level is reduced to 160,000 for the next four years.

Changes to General Skilled Migration (GSM) visas are being introduced and NEW Regional Visas are coming in on 1 November 2019. The RSMS 187 and 489 visas will be discontinued.

Whilst there are many changes to be introduced there are many advantages to the newer streamlined processes that have been introduced. Applications that are prepared in a structured decision ready process will still succeed.

Minister for Department and Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP) has released information relating to the abolishment of the current Temporary Skilled Work - Subclass 457 Visa program effective from 19 April 2017. New legislation has been released including occupations still eligible. What is an Australian. An Australian is a person who is complex in nature. We are a nation populated by convicts initially (I would like call most of them entrepreneurs in the art of survival) and gutsy pioneers who dared to dream of a life on a VERY BIG Island that could possibly give them better opportunities than from where they came from. A person who migrates to Australia is still, today stepping onto the shore of a country where the journey ahead is unknown with all the fears, challenges and trepidation of our ancestors over the last few 100 years.

We ALL come from or know someone who has come from another country to live in Australia. Well that's what I do. I help with the Visa Application so they can start that scary journey to become an Australian. A proud Australian. I am the giver of the news when my clients get granted Permanent Residency. Many can't breathe when I call because they know I am about to give them news. Is it good or is it bad they are thinking? Then there are the tears, the laughing, the excitement, dancing.. then shock (sometimes dropping the phone), sometimes telling me they love me :-) (No not like that.. the love is because I understand their journey).

Getting a visa is just the first bit. Migrants still have to make a life in Australia in the spirit of the Pioneer. I never forget that.. never!

We are rich as a nation because we are the salt, pepper and spice of the world that has made into one incredible recipe. The ultimate Australian Pie.

First tip. Applying of an Australian Visa is complex. Nothing seems clear when there are so many Visa Descriptions and acronyms. All you want to know is which one is for you?
