🏳️🌈 Today is LGBTQ Domestic Violence Awareness Day.
Family violence can occur in any relationship. Yet LGBTQIA+ people are still too often excluded from national conversations surrounding domestic and family violence.
This is despite alarming statistics showing that 1 in 2 LGBTQIA+ people will experience DFV in their lifetime.
Everyone deserves the right to live a life free from violence and abuse - in every relationship.
Need support? These Victorian organisations offer specialised services for LGBTQIA+ victim-survivors:
🌈 Our health in our hands. - Queerspace offer specialist counselling, case management, and family violence support for LGBTQIA+ people across Victoria through the WithRespect program.
🌈 Switchboard Victoria - Rainbow Door is a free specialist LGBTQIA+ helpline offering support for family violence, intimate partner violence, sexual assault, and relationship issues.
🌈 Thorne Harbour Health - provides LGBTQIA+ family violence counselling, case management, and flexible support packages.
If you need legal support from someone experienced in working with LGBTQIA+ victim-survivors, Beck is here to help. 💚
