You don’t need to have your whole life organised before you come and see us.

Honestly, most people don’t.

You don’t need to know the exact balance of every bank account. You don’t need to have every document neatly filed away. And you definitely don’t need to have all the answers.

Your first meeting is a conversation.

We’ll ask questions, get to know your family and circumstances, and help you identify the things that matter when putting your estate plan together.

That said, there are a few things that can be helpful for us to know.

We’ve put together this guide to help you prepare—but please don’t see it as homework. If you don’t have everything on the list, that’s completely okay.

A little more about the person behind the emails 👋

I am Nadya, Principal Lawyer and Co-Founder of Respect Wills & Estates.

But I am also a mum, a wife, a daughter and someone who has experienced loss.

I lost my dad when I was a child, and although I did not understand it at the time, that experience has shaped me in ways I am still discovering.

Maybe that is why I have always believed that Wills and estate planning are about so much more than documents.

They are about people. Families. Relationships. The things that are sometimes difficult to talk about.

My hope is that when someone sits down with me, they feel comfortable enough to have those conversations — honestly and openly.

So, I thought it was about time I properly introduced myself. 🤍
