🚨DV Lottery Update 🚨
‎
‎On March 11, 2026, the Department of State will publish a final rule requiring Diversity Visa applicants to provide additional passport information when submitting their DV lottery entry.
‎
‎✅ Under the new rule, DV lottery applicants must include:
‎
‎📌 Valid, unexpired passport information
‎📌 A scanned copy of the passport’s biographic and signature page
‎
‎✅ This information must be uploaded directly with the electronic DV entry form, unless the applicant qualifies for a specific exemption from the passport requirement.
‎
‎✅ According to the Department of State, the goal of this rule is to combat fraud and strengthen the integrity of the Diversity Visa program, which receives millions of entries every year.
‎
‎✅ The rule also updates regulatory language to simplify guidance for consular officers:
‎
‎📌 The term “Gender” will be replaced with “Sex.”
‎📌 The term “Age” will be replaced with “Date of Birth.”

*Update*: Uganda Airlines has resumed long-haul flights to London Gatwick and Mumbai from 07 Mar 2026, after weeks of disruption caused by the unexpected grounding of both its Airbus A330-800neo aircraft for unscheduled maintenance.

To keep its crucial London slot alive, the airline has wet-leased a Boeing 787-8 from Ethiopian Airlines, complete with 43 crew members and engineers.

Under the global "use it or lose it" slot rule, airlines must operate at least 80% of their allocated slots or risk losing them to competitors permanently.

The leased 787-8 is around 10 years old and configured with 24 business class and 246 economy seats. Notably, it does not include a premium economy cabin, leaving questions unanswered about passengers already booked in that class.

Dubai services remain suspended, with the airline citing ongoing monitoring of the regional conflict situation.

Off the flight deck, Uganda Airlines is also navigating a leadership change. Former CEO Jenifer Bamuturaki stepped down following criticism over the airline's financial and operational performance.

Girma Wake, the former Ethiopian Airlines CEO widely credited with transforming African aviation, has stepped in as interim CEO.

Below is the list of visas that were announced in April. Most of them will come into force from next month and a few of them have already been introduced:

Multi-entry tourist visa: The new five-year multi-entry tourist visa doesn't require a sponsor and allows the person to stay in the UAE for up to 90 days; it can be extended for another 90 days. A person can stay a maximum of 180 days on this tourist visa. The applicant should have a bank balance of $4,000 (Dh14,700) or its equivalent in foreign currencies in the last six months before applying.

Business visa: Investors and entrepreneurs can apply for a business visa without requiring a sponsor or a host.

Visa to visit relatives/friends: A foreigner can apply for this visa if he/she is a relative or friend of a UAE citizen or a resident. This does not require a sponsor or a host.

Temporary work visa: Those who have a temporary work assignment, such as probation testing or project-based work, can apply for this visa. Candidates need to submit a temporary work contract or a letter from the employer and proof of fitness.

Visa for study/training: This visa is aimed at people or students who want to attend training, study courses and internship programmes. This visa can be sponsored by both public and private sector educational and research institutes. It requires a letter from the entity clarifying the details of the study or training or internship programme and its duration.

Family visa: Previously, parents could sponsor their children under 18 years only. Now male children can be sponsored till the age of 25. Disabled children also get a special permit, and unmarried daughters can be sponsored for an indefinite time.

Job visa: Job-seekers can avail of this new visa to explore opportunities in the UAE. This visa will not require any sponsor or a host and it will be granted to bachelor's degree holders or its equivalent, fresh graduates of the best 500 universities in the world as well as those classified in the first, second or third skill levels as per the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation.

Green visa: This five-year visa allows holders to bring their families without a sponsor or employer. This visa is available for skilled workers, self-employers, freelancers etc. Other requirements include a Bachelor's degree or equivalent and a minimum salary of Dh15,000.

Golden Visas: The UAE has announced Golden Visa for a range of professional categories and investors who look to enjoy the country's best quality of life on a long-term basis. Below is the list of Golden Visas for different categories:
Real estate: A minimum investment of Dh2 million in real estate is required to be eligible for the visa. Investors buying property on the mortgage and off-plan properties are also allowed if their combined total investment is Dh2 million or above.

Startups: Entrepreneurs can now avail of Golden Visa under three categories – (1) startup is registered in the country, (2) should fall under SME, (3) and annual revenue should be Dh1 million or above.

Scientists: People who are dexterous in their field can apply for Golden Visa if they meet the following requirements – a recommendation from Emirates Science Council and PhD or Master's degree from a top university in life science, natural sciences, technology and engineering.

Exceptional talent: People who have exceptional talent in the field of art, culture, digital technology, sports, innovation, medicine and law can apply for Golden Visa. They need a recommendation letter or approval from the relevant government entity.

Skilled workers: Applicant must have a Bachelor's degree, a valid contract of employment, a line of employment must fall under the occupational level one or two as defined by the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation, and a minimum monthly salary of Dh30,000.

Students: Exceptional students who have obtained high scores in UAE secondary schools and universities or those who fall under the best 100 universities worldwide can apply for the Golden Visa.

UAE firms begin offering Golden Visa to retain talent, attract highly-skilled individuals
Company leaders say coveted 10-year residency applications should be made more flexible

Companies in the UAE are offering Golden Visas to retain existing talent and are also exploring the option of providing 10-year visas to new senior employees to attract the best talent in the market.

In addition to monetary benefits, this new perk is being added by companies to attract highly-skilled and talented individuals on a long-term basis.

“Earlier, the Golden Visa was focused on the high-net-worth individuals... companies are exploring the option of offering this as an added benefit for senior leadership talent. The trend is being led by key professionals in the technology and medical fields. This is positively being used for existing high potential talent in key positions, engaging new talent,” said Anjali Samuel, managing partner at Mindfield Resources, a senior talent acquisition and consulting firm in the Middle East and Africa region.

She said the move is well-received by client companies and candidates as well.

“This also increases the talent density in the country. The changes coming into effect in September will greatly benefit the UAE in attracting talent for the long haul,” Samuel added.

The UAE will roll out a number of new visas and entry permits next month as part of a massive overhaul of its residency reforms programme. A significantly expanded Golden Visa scheme, the new five-year Green residency, a multiple-entry tourist visa and job hunting entry permits are among the several residency reforms that will take effect next month.

The Golden Visa is also being offered to scientists, professionals, exceptionally-talented people, real estate investors, entrepreneurs and outstanding students and graduates.

Property Finder has also introduced the Golden Visa programme as part of its Total Rewards Package to attract new engineering talent and retain existing ones.

“The visa programme supports our broader employer value proposition and will be applicable to all software/data engineers and senior leaders in the company; who also match the government-specified criteria. Additionally, this initiative also extends to the new employees who fall under the deemed criteria,” says Anuradha Challu, chief people officer at Property Finder.

She said it is very rare to find product engineers who are keen to pursue a career in real estate because some have doubts about their future and others are not capable to suit the company’s aspirations to drive the market further.

Ali Rao, group CEO, Elixir Group, says his company offers Golden Visa to those employees who are eligible, as well as to experienced chief executives, chief finance officers, general managers, and innovators. This also includes people who can manage the group’s businesses and contribute to its growth.

“The Golden Visa is a tool for talent retention. I believe the UAE government should make Golden Visa applications more flexible and also makes highly experienced managers eligible for the 10-year visa,” he said, adding that a 10-year residency visa gives peace of mind to investors and experienced professionals.
