🇦🇪 Over 40 and planning to come to Dubai for a job? Here are some realistic industries to explore!
If you have 15 to 25 years of professional experience, your goal should be to find a suitable entry point into the UAE job market without starting your career from zero.
Here are 8 areas worth exploring, depending on your previous experience and skills:
1️⃣ Real Estate: Property Consultant, Leasing Consultant, Secondary Market Agent. Some brokerages consider candidates without UAE experience and offer commission-based opportunities.
2️⃣ Recruitment & Talent Acquisition: Recruitment Consultant, Talent Sourcer, Industry-Specialist Recruiter. Previous HR, recruitment or sales experience can be an advantage.
3️⃣ Business Development: Business Development Consultant, Corporate Sales, Client Acquisition. Particularly relevant if you have experience building business relationships and generating revenue.
4️⃣ Property Management: Property Management Coordinator, Leasing Specialist, Tenant Relations. Previous property, facilities or administrative experience may be transferable.
5️⃣ Logistics & Supply Chain: Sales and Business Development, Operations Coordination, Client Account Management. Explore this sector if you have relevant commercial or operational experience.
6️⃣ Hospitality & Luxury Services: Corporate Sales, Reservations Management, Guest Relations Management, Front Office Management. Previous aviation, hospitality or service leadership experience can be valuable.
7️⃣ Education & Training: Corporate Trainer, Training Coordinator, Admissions Consultant, Sales Trainer. Suitable candidates may be able to use their industry knowledge and communication skills.
8️⃣ Healthcare Recruitment & Medical Business Development: Healthcare Recruiter, Recruitment Consultant, Medical Staffing Business Development. Previous healthcare, HR or recruitment experience can help.
💡 My advice: Do not automatically target junior positions just to gain UAE experience. Look for opportunities that recognise your existing skills, even if you are entering a new industry.
💰 Financial preparation matters: Arrive with sufficient backup funds to cover living expenses and emergencies while you search. Commission-based work can take time to generate income, and earnings are never guaranteed.
📌 Always verify the employer, job terms and required work authorisation before starting work in the UAE.
Your next career move should build on your experience, not erase it.
