*Honesty in Real Estate: The Deal Killer That Keeps Clients Coming Back*
Dubai real estate has its own speed—and sometimes, its own version of “ *truth* .”
I learned early that being honest doesn’t always make you popular. But it does make you reliable.
*A recent case:*
A client was negotiating an apartment aggressively. I told him plainly—this price won’t work, not in this market.
He smiled, thanked me… and went to another agent who promised to “make it happen.”
It did happen—on paper. Until it didn’t.
The seller situation wasn’t clean, things got stuck with the developer, and the “ *_better deal_* ” turned into a waiting game nobody wanted.
He came back later with a very simple line: “ _*You were right*_ .”
*Another one:*
A client was excited about a property because someone promised “high ROI.” Fast numbers, big dreams.
I did the boring thing—broke it down. Service charges, vacancy gaps, realistic rent cycles.
The excitement dropped. So did my chances of closing that day.
They went ahead elsewhere anyway. _Months later, reality sent its own invoice._
*What I’ve learned:*
* “Better deals” often just mean better stories, not better outcomes
* Truth is rarely exciting—but it ages well
* Clients don’t remember who hyped them… they remember who warned them
* The agent who says “no” once often gets the call back later
* Trust is built in uncomfortable conversations, not smooth pitches
And the funny part? I lose clients in the moment but I rarely lose them permanently.
*_Because in this market, honesty doesn’t close every door. It just makes sure the right ones stay open._*
